Friends of the Koala is the only rehabilitation group licensed to rescue, rehabilitate and release koalas across the Ballina, Byron, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed local government areas in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW. In 2016/2017 we rescued 429 koalas and last year 379, which is more than any other group in NSW. Apart from our licensed work we run a 24 hour Rescue Hotline, develop campaigns to save koalas such as our 'Help prevent a local extinction' campaign, advocate for koalas, educate the community about koalas and what individuals can do to help save koalas, and work to restore koala habitat. We're a volunteer organisation funded entirely by donations and any successful grants, but most of our funding is through small individual donations.
In 2019 MyGivingCircle and UBank are giving $50,000 in grants to Australian not-for-profits. It's free to vote for us plus if you donate to us we get an extra vote for every $ you give, even more for regular giving. Please vote and donate to help us share in $50,000 in 2019.
