We rescue horses and donkeys from the slaughter pipeline. Give them a second chance at life through rehabilitation, training, and companionship.

My name is Nichol and I am the founder and operator of Circle H Haven. My husband and I are both military veterans and huge animal lovers and advocates. We have always said when we owned our own property this is what we wanted to do. It all started with cats and dogs and helping our community back in Arlington any way that we could. Once we moved to Midland and started looking for a horse of our own we realized the immediate need of a horse and donkey rescue in our area. As of today we are the only registered 501c3 non profit horse and donkey rescue in the Midland/Odessa area. We currently have 62 horses, donkeys and mules in our care that have been rescued and pulled from the slaughter pipeline. If it wasn't for what we do none of these guys would be here today. Our rescues are bailed by donors or ourselves. We would like to start offering an owner surrender program to help prevent these unwanted, abused, starved horses from going to auction in the first place. The entire process creates far more damage than what they have previously endured. When they come to us we do a thorough exam and access the needs of each animal. Everyone goes straight to quarantine and goes through a round of antibiotics and dewormer to prevent anything from spreading to our existing herd. From there we work with the horses on rehabilitation, socialization, and eventually adoption. Most our horses will stay with us because of their advanced ages, medical problems, and history of being bounced home to home. We pride ourselves not only on bringing in horses but also educating the public on the harsh conditions these animals are exposed too. Right now all of us horse lovers are working on getting the SAFE act passed through congress to prevent the transportation to outside countries from the US for slaughter.
