Each with their own story, the donkeys and horses rescued by The Farmette (Pipersville, PA) escape mistreatment, neglect and the slaughter pipeline and find hope, healing and happiness in exchange.  The Farmette is both a rescue, offering the adoption of animals to approved homes, as well as a sanctuary, providing a forever home for various animals.  The organization is entirely volunteer-run and all donations go directly to expenses related to animal care.  At present, The Farmette is responsible for over 60 donkeys and 3 horses, some of them permanent residents and some waiting to be adopted, as well as checks in annually on those that have been adopted.  We provide education related to donkey care as well as encourage people to get to know our donkeys by hosting events of various kinds.  Both for entertainment as well as educational purposes, we also take some of our donkeys to local places such as Dairy Queens, Tractor Supply, flea markets, churches and nursing homes.
