Changes Bristol are a community based mental health charity that provides free peer support groups to help improve people’s mental wellbeing. Currently, the charity is running 17 peer support groups every week, both online and in-person. They also provide a telephone befriending and Walk and Talk service for people require one-to-one support. Changes Bristol services are available to anyone who wants support. The services are free, open-ended (which means that you can attend as many or as little as you wish) and you don't need a diagnosis or GP referral. All of the services are facilitated by trained volunteers who have lived experience of living in mental health distress and offer safe, judgement-free, inclusive spaces where members feel comfortable to share their thoughts and feelings. 100% of the people who access services from Changes Bristol have seen an improvement in their mental wellbeing. Members would feel more confident, resilient and have better self esteem. Changes Bristol have been providing free services to those in mental distress in Greater Bristol since 2003 and rely entirely on voluntary partnerships to run. As a result of the pandemic they have seen an increase in the demand for their vital mental health services, however they have also seen a huge drop in their income.
