Since 1991 we have provided specialist care and support for people living with a life limiting, incurable illness, and their families throughout Dudley Borough, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Sandwell. Services are available to adults aged 18 years and over with illnesses such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease, advanced renal and cardiac disease, and HIV/AIDS. Our team of healthcare professionals and dedicated volunteers provide end-of-life care, helping patients cope better with pain and distressing symptoms associated with their illness and ensuring they live as happily and comfortably as possible. We also support their families, friends and carers during and after this difficult, life changing period with emotional and bereavement support. We care for up to 250 patients every year in our 10-bed In-Patient Unit where people are admitted for respite care, symptom control or for end-of-life care. Our Day Services Unit provides care and support for 125 patients every week. For every patient we care for, around three loved ones and carers benefit as a direct result. Our care and services are provided free of charge to all those who need it. Although we receive some Government funding, we rely on the local community and charitable trusts to raise more than 80% of our annual running costs which have risen to £3.2 million.
