About us

SANE is a leading national mental health charity set up in 1986 by its Chief Executive, Marjorie Wallace CBE. The charity, which is independent of government, endeavours to improve the quality of life of people affected by mental illness and its aims are: · raise awareness and understanding of all mental health conditions · fight to improve frontline mental health services for individuals and carers · provide support, information and guidance through its helpline, SANEline, Caller Care service, Textcare and Online Forum · promote and host research into causes, treatments and therapies at the Prince of Wales International Centre for SANE Research in Oxford. We believe that no-one affected by mental illness should face crisis, distress, or despair completely alone. Your support could make a real difference in the lives of people who struggle with their mental health. Here are 3 ways in which your donation can be used to support SANE's front line services: £10 – provides a vulnerable person in need with 5 personalised text messages; £30 – enables a professional to moderate SANE’s online forums for 2 hours; £50 – allows five persons to receive in-depth personal call from a professional.
