APS Support UK - for people with antiphospholipid syndrome
About us
The national charity, APS Support UK, aims to achieve earlier diagnosis and offer support to anyone affected by antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) through awareness, education and research.
APS is a life-threatening autoimmune condition that causes the blood to clot too quickly. The condition can cause potentially fatal events such as strokes, heart attacks, blood clots in the lung and DVTs.
In pregnancy, APS is the most significant treatable cause of recurrent miscarriage and women are five times more likely to suffer a stillbirth; it is also associated with other complications such as pre-eclampsia, low weight babies and premature births.
By donating to us, you will help carry on research investigating the causes of APS and how we can best treat patients. Our patients tend to be between 20-50 years of age and severe clotting events such as stroke and heart attack can have devastating effects on both the patient and their families. Likewise, miscarriage and stillbirth leave a trail of heartache and misery for families, so please help APS Support UK do our utmost to help anyone affected by APS.
