The C.A.R.E. Foundation was established in 1996 as a small wildlife education facility with the goal of teaching Elementary and Middle School children about Native Florida Wildlife and the importance of preserving and protecting the environment we share. We quickly grew into an Exotic Animal Rescue and Wildlife Education Facility providing permanent housing to more than 200 non-domestic and/or non-release-able exotic animals and native wildlife. We work closely with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in their Amnesty Program, aiding them in confiscations of animals kept illegally, and participating in special events. We have expanded our education programs into many Central Florida counties and offer them to both Public and Private Schools, Churches and Civic Groups. Through our efforts in establishing relationships and networking with like-minded facilities nationwide, we have helped to rescue animals from all across the country. Most of our animals are ex-pets that came from people who could not properly care for them, from families of students who have gone off to college and left their pets behind or families who have inherited animals such as exotic birds through wills of family members. Others are former performing animals, foxes rescued from fur-farms, or animals from facilities like ours who have had to shut down. We do not receive money from the Government, either Federal, State or Local. We are funded entirely by Private Donations, and it is by the generosity of people like you who truly care about these animals and the environment we share with them, that we can continue to provide the best care possible for our animals and continue our educational programs for children throughout our community.
