The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is the largest fenced Sanctuary for endangered plants and creatures in the South Island. This community led iniative is just minutes from the Nelson City Centre. It's a place where you can connect with the natural world in a way that promotes environmental responsibility and contributes to the restoration of our local and national ecosystems. The Sanctuary is now home to several endangered species and is on the cusp of reintroducing several more. We want everyone to experience the mauri (life force), vital essence and spirituality of this natural environment and seek support to retain our pest free status.
