About us

Maggie’s Mission has raised almost $2M since we were awarded our official non-profit status in 2017 (less than 4 months after losing our only daughter Maggie to Malignant Rhabdoid Tumors).

Since the start, we’ve had three goals:

1. Raise awareness of pediatric cancers because symptoms are often overlooked which means pediatric cancers go undiagnosed until it’s too late. Alert people to the hardships families face when their child is diagnosed, both emotionally and financially. Initiate discussions about the lack of funding to find better treatment options and working to gain support to help change that.

2. Fund critical research to find cures for pediatric cancers. Pediatric cancers receive less than 4% of the annual budget spent on cancer research from the National Institutes of Health, yet cancer is the number 1 cause of death by disease in children. We work hard to help fill the large funding gap that exists so that cures are found.

3. Help families after their child has been diagnosed both financially and emotionally to any extent we can. Whether that be by organizing wish trips, because a young adult didn’t qualify elsewhere due to their age; organizing a private plane trip for a critically ill child and their family; paying full monthly mortgage payments; rent payments; expensive medical co-payments; fulfilling Amazon wish lists; purchasing iPads; building gaming computers so kids are occupied while spending countless hours in the hospital; offering temporary housing to a family in need; feeding monthly meals to families staying from around the world at Ronald McDonald House in NYC, and much more. Maggie’s Mission does not have a cap on how much we provide to families suffering. We know and understand there is no limit to the help that is needed. Our team looks at each case on an individual basis. That makes the most sense to us.

We sell “Maggie Gear” to help us get the word out and have held numerous fundraising events - including Maggie’s Mile; our signature Angelversary Gala; Maggie’s Challenge in local schools; and many others since 2017. We are the proud recipients of part of the proceeds from the Montauk Canyon Challenge (NY’s most popular offshore fishing tournament), and have received grants for our work. We’ve dedicated ourselves to thinking outside the box to raise money so we can expand our reach and impact.

The money we’ve raised in such a short time, combined with our dedication to our Mission is a testament to our determination and speaks volumes of our commitment to make change. Through our grief, beyond the obstacles the pandemic presented us all, Maggie’s Mission continues to grow. We are excited as we launch our unique fundraising ideas, which include s’mores for more and The Maggie Collection and look forward to a future with less toxic treatments, and continuing to help serve families affected.

We hope you’ll join and support our team.
