IHADLA works to break the cycle of poverty for underserved youth by sponsoring entire classes of first graders through high school graduation and into the college or career path they choose. We provide them with tutoring, mentorship, cultural enrichment, emotional support, and a scholarship towards higher education, improving their opportunities to achieve their full potential. The COVID-19 crisis is impacting our students negatively on an educational level and economically on their family members. As we practice social distancing, we continue to provide critical support, by connecting with each of the Dreamer Scholars and their family members via phone, text and email to assess their needs and provide them with resources, including access to food, mental health and wellness, academic learning, technology, and internet access. One of our greatest challenges is continuing to raise funds during a time when many of us are experiencing hardship in different ways.
