VVHS services the Greater Verde Valley, from Village of Oak Creek/Big Park, Clarkdale, Cornville, Cottonwood, Jerome, Verde Villages, and the unincorporated areas of Northern Yavapai County. The 2020 Census estimated the population of this area to be 43,537. Since that time, the area has been growing at a steady rate. The median household income for 2016-2020 was $53,329 (www.census.gov). As we accept homeless and lost animals through our County, we have a broad scope of households benefitting from our services. The 893 animals taken into our care this past year represent hundreds of local residents who have received support from the Shelter in housing abandoned and surrendered pets, providing healthy pets for adoption and assisting with packages of food for their pets. We are the primary animal welfare organization in this area. All the animals taken in receive the best possible care, including spay/neuter services. Dedicated and compassionate staff and volunteers provide daily socialization, vet medical care and services, clean, well-kept kennels and a high quality food.
