Providing care and a forever home to around 400 rescued animals - mostly ex-farm animals plus horses cats and dogs all saved from slaughter. There are over 90 horses, 52 rescued cows including 17 highland cows, 90 sheep, 100+ pigs plus chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese and Gandalf & Giselle the swans. The sanctuary has been running for 28 years and was founded by Fiona Oakes, who also runs ultra endurance events to raise the profile of her work and holds 4 Guinness world records in the marathon despite running with a knee replacement. Fiona is an honorary patron of the 'Vegan Society' and a patron of 'Freedom for Animals' The Sanctuary is not what Fiona does for a living and all donations go towards the feed costs which can exceed £30,000 a month
