"Farming is a non-profit!" -Norman Strong, 2010
Please help preserve our farm for future generations!
Built in 1878, Strong Family Farm been protected by the community in order to provide a historic agricultural education center where everyone can experience an authentic family farm environment. With the help of good friends, family and neighbors, the Strong Family Farm became a non-profit in 2014. BUT many expenses have occurred in repairing and maintaining the big yellow barn and clearing the fields and bringing them back to prime agricultural pastures. Since its establishment, it has offered many community activities such as the annual Scarecrow Contest, a 5K Chicken Run, a Backyard Chicken program, a Raised Bed Gardening program and a Harvest Festival. It has established a seasonal farm store with only CT Grown and produced items. I supports all local community groups that include Future Farmers of America, 4-H, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and offers volunteer opportunities for all in the area. But these activities that fulfill our mission only cover part of the costs and so many dreams are yet to be fulfilled. Thanks to the many community members and businesses who value open space and agriculture, we have done so much in the past 10 years. We look forward to continued support to secure the future of the farm. Do your value farms and open spaces? Can you help? Please join us in our journey.
