In these times of polarization and division, supporting Community Justice Initiatives of Waterloo Region (CJI) is more crucial than ever. CJI fosters dialogue across differences, bringing people together to engage in conversations that heal, build trust, and strengthen community bonds. Restorative practices are at the core of who we are, permeating every aspect of our work, including conflict resolution and restorative justice services within the community and legal framework, support for survivors of sexual trauma, reintegration assistance for women transitioning from incarceration to community life, and programs promoting home sharing with refugee claimants. Our focus lies in bridging divides, bringing together individuals who are typically kept apart to cultivate relationships that help create a more interconnected community.The majority of our services are facilitated by a dedicated team of over 150 trained and supported community members who volunteer their time. We draw inspiration from the resilience and courage exhibited by our program participants, who navigate through challenging circumstances as they embark on their journey of healing together. Our services accompany individuals on their path, meeting them where they are and aiding them in fostering meaningful connections in their lives. Supporting CJI means contributing to a more compassionate, just, and unified society—one where we all work together to create lasting positive change.
