Solaris Cancer Care was founded in September 2001, to provide cancer patient and carer access to safe, free, supervised and credentialed complementary therapies. Patients receiving mainstream cancer treatment, particularly chemotherapy and radiotherapy, can opt to receive a variety of treatments such as yoga, massage, meditation, acupuncture, reiki, and counselling. Solaris helps people through their cancer journey by providing a quiet oasis where ancient modalities of therapy can be used alongside high-tech (and high-pressure) Western medicine, to address cancer symptoms and treatment side effects. In-house and published research shows improved quality of life and reduced symptom distress from pain, nausea and fatigue, the most troubling symptoms for cancer patients. Solaris Cancer Care offers a broader range of supportive cancer care services than anyone else in Australia. It is a pioneer in the Integrative Oncology field, and obtains its clients from referrals from health practitioners, single focus cancer charities and word of mouth. We at Solaris have a holistic approach and support people through every stage of cancer. Solaris Cancer Care is a 95% community-funded organization that receives very limited Government funding, which means your donation is the essential force that helps us keep going.
