People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India is the country’s leading animal rights organisation that operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way, while also educating policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promoting an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect. Since 2000, PETA India has secured landmark victories through achieving policy changes, corporate commitments and cultural shifts that have reduced suffering.

Our work is rooted in values: ahimsa, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, and rejections of speciesism. A core pillar of our approach is humane education, shaping values and behaviour early on to reduce future demand for animal exploitation. Through educational partnerships and innovative tools, PETA India has influenced teachers and parents and reached millions of schoolchildren with lessons in kindness across the nation.
