Houston Ground Angels (HGA) is a 25-year old 501(c)(3) providing critical care medical transportation for mainly cancer local patients and those flying in for treatments when their small towns do not offer treatments. HGA works with over 700 patients a month. Without HGA's volunteers the majority of these patients both local and those flying in would not be able to go to their life-saving appointments due to not having funds for Ubers, no family or friends to help or support them, and public transportation is not in their area or they are too ill to try and walk to a bus stop at least a mile or more away. This is Houston, Texas and one would think access to transportation would be a given, but that is not the case at all. Even those flying in cannot afford Ubers to go to treatments. Local patients are low-income and barely are making it as it is. But the one thing all of these patients have in common is they are all fighting for their lives, they want to live, and so they fight, but without HGA, that fight is less possible if they cannot get to treatments. So HGA provides rides. Providing rides to patients seems like such a simple thing, but for these patients it is the difference between life and death.

As a note, we partner with many organizations to assist with patients flying in without charge, lodging, and many other resources. HGA also provides food for these patients if they cannot afford food. We purchase groceries for them. We have patients that sell their cars, and much of what they have to be able to afford the expenses of treatments, even with charities, non-profits, and other resources that help.
