Providing therapeutic and educational opportunities to individuals of all abilities is the goal. FOIAR promotes stewardship, animal knowledge and conservation and reaches far beyond its SW Virginia location.FOIAR offers an Animal Adventure Summer Camp which promotes positive traits in children by building skills, confidence and developing relationships with both animals and one another. The experience builds memories, character and values that enhance their whole lives. Participants gain self-confidence, responsibility and interactive teamwork skills through animal assisted therapies and husbandry activities. The school field trips, summer programs and tours are designed to teach children there is a whole new world of adventure outside of their doors and TV.FOIAR’s year-round Day Support Program for adults with Developmental Disabilities (ENABLE = Enriching Nurturing Animal Based Learning Experiences) utilizes domestic and exotic animals to encourage physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
