Eden Men's Shed Incorporated (EMS) was instigated envisaging that it would be a place of mateship and camaraderie for men in the Eden and surrounding districts during a time of significant change through industry scaling and/or closing down, thereby retrenching or forcing retirement of the men in the area. EMS created a space where men could come together to have a chat over a cup of tea or if they wished,, work on various projects, either for themselves or the community in general or to raise funds to assist and ensure that the organisation continued to function. These endeavours were established to advance the well being and health (mentally emotionally and physically) and help the empowerment of the men during those trying times, and continues to do so today. EMS undertakes various tasks within the community, such as repairs to furniture and household goods, creating and installing safety rails in houses for the elderly, assisting both commercial and not-for-profit organisations (raffle items etc.).
