Connectivity Traumatic Brain Injury Australia Cover Photo
Over 200,000 traumatic brain injuries (TBI), including concussions occur each year in Australia – a figure believed to be underestimated due to the number of TBI cases that are unreported or undiagnosed.Despite recent media focus on TBI, particularly linked to sport, there is a nationwide lack of understanding and recognition of TBI. TBI is a complex injury that has an immense social and financial impact on the community. Individuals who have experienced a TBI, can experience a multitude of debilitating symptoms and ongoing complications that can dramatically impact the lives of both the individual and the people around them. Many sufferers face uncertain and challenging futures. Connectivity Traumatic Brain Injury Australia (Connectivity) is an Australian-wide not-for-profit working to improve the lives of people living with TBI of all severities from mild (otherwise known as concussion), to moderate and severe. We work to educate and raise awareness of concussion and other forms of TBI, connect individuals with lived experience of TBI to research, and to facilitate a consistent, nationwide approach to managing TBI across multiple industry sectors. Together, we have the power to make a difference. Please support us to improve the lives and future outcomes for TBI sufferers.
