The Opportunity Lab works with young people and women who have experienced family violence, who are disengaged and isolated in their communities. We need funding to build our social enterprise businesses to provide first steps into work experience for women and young people, to build their skills and confidence that will increase their employability as well as give them a sense of identity and purpose. Our clients have many barriers to employment, education and community connections that include contact with the criminal justice system, low literacy and numeracy, no identification, limited resources and mental health issues or trauma. This funding will provide safe spaces for clients to learn new skills, earn income and participate in formal learning and training through our mobile food business, events and another business we are in the process of developing. The Opportunity Lab is already making life changing differences to clients lives that we know could be scaled up with the funding to back us.
