Founded 65 years ago by pioneering Australian surgeon, Dr. Catherine Hamlin AC, Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is a world-leading, locally-staffed healthcare network dedicated to treating and preventing these horrific injuries.

Based in Australia, Catherine Hamlin Fistula Foundation raises critical funds for Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia so they can find, treat and empower these women - striving to fulfill Catherine’s vision of eradicating obstetric fistula in Ethiopia.

Over 80,000 women have had their health and dignity restored through free life-changing surgery, rehabilitation and compassionate care. Every patient receives a colourful, hand-knitted Hamlin blanket from our supporters, symbolising her healing journey as her life is woven back together.

While the eradication of obstetric fistula in Ethiopia once seemed impossible, it is now becoming a reality thanks to a growing movement of compassionate supporters determined to give every woman basic, life-changing maternal healthcare.
