Founded as a labor of love in the late 1970's by founder Peter Dubacher, Berkshire Bird Paradise Inc. began as and remains a humanitarian endeavor to preserve wildlife and give disabled and displaced birds a chance to enjoy quality long-term care. We do not euthanize and we take great pride in making sure all special needs are met and the birds can enjoy quality living until they pass away comfortably and naturally.   Over the last several years Elizabeth, Peters daughter has stepped in to take over leading this amazing cause. As Peter steps back in his role she hopes to continue on the legacy he has built for all of these amazing creatures. She has working diligently to change the habitats that were deteriorating, to brick and mortar structures that are susatinable to the weather in the Berkshires of Upstate NY. There is a lot of work to be done to the grounds to help make this a destination that is not only esthetic to the visitors, but safe and sustainable for the birds and other wild life. The focus at this moment is on 2 ponds that many live in birds rely on as well as some frequent wild visitors who fly in. BBP does not have a staff, they rely solely on donations and volunteers to keep things operating. Elizabeth and Peter are thankful that this has been their chosen calling but cannot do it solely on their drive.
