Bay Area Jazz and Arts, Inc (BAJA) is a nonprofit organization that nurtures music, art, and creative ventures through live performance and educational programs. BAJA is a hub of creativity, a home to musicians and artists, and an intimate setting for visitors and residents of the Bay Area to enjoy the arts. BAJA supports live music and the arts and believe that communities are enriched by creative people and art. The Sound Room, the home of BAJA, opened November 10, 2102. Collaboration between the Board and jazz musicians has resulted in the development of a listening room that is popular among musicians and fans alike. The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience. The Sound Room provides a small inviting space that ensures that all in attendance are actually participants as there is clear visibility from all seats and natural communication between performers and audience. It is a music and art program by and for people who love music, especially jazz.
