UK WILD OTTER TRUST
We rescue, rehabilitate and release back into the wild orphaned and injured Eurasian otters. In 2022, we rescued 31 otter cubs and released 28 rehabilitated otters back into the wild. As of March 2023, we have already rescued 22 otters.
In 2022, we also completed our specialist rehabilitation centre comprising of 19 enclosures, 2 cub rooms, a cub hospital and treatment room and it is the largest specialist centre in the UK. In 2023 we are building a new otter cub isolation and hospital room.
We are a very special organisation, registered with the UK charity sector (charity number 1167746) and we pride ourselves on the fact that no one within the charity receives any form of financial or gift remuneration for the work that they do. Everyone gives the time free of charge and this is an exceptional thing to be able to claim with so many organisations facing huge, crippling expenses. As a result of this decision, it means that every penny that is donated IS spent exactly on our rehabilitated animals and we are very proud to be able to say that .. it is a testament of the people we have on board!
With all with volunteer labour and donations that we have received we make a massive difference to these little mammals. All of the rehabilitated orphans are returned to the wild where they belong. It is so rewarding to be able to work with these animals, it is a huge privilege to be able do this.
