Our Mission: Harmony Project harnesses the transformative power of music to increase access to higher education for underserved students by removing systemic barriers to achievement through academic and social support.

Our Vision: Harmony Project envisions a world in which all students—regardless of income, background, or zip code—have equal access to opportunities to make music and the resources needed to thrive in college and beyond.

Our History & Accomplishments: Founded in 2001 with only 36 children, our organization started as a public health initiative focused on supporting student development through the study, practice, and performance of music. Today, we annually serve over 3,600 underserved K-12 students across 19 historically marginalized communities in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Our holistic approach helps strengthen key 21st Century skills like logic, reasoning, visual processing, emotional maturity, empathy, and interpersonal communication, while motivating participants to graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education. Additionally, Harmony Project has established itself as a leader in music education, earning several notable awards, including a Coming Up Taller Award (2009), the Presidential Citizens Medal (2011), the U.S. Department of Education’s Bright Spot in Hispanic Education (2015), and being named a semi-finalist for the Lewis Prize for Music (2024).
