The Canadian Peregrine Foundation is a Canadian Registered Charity founded in 1997

Facilitate the total recovery of the Peregrine Falcon and other Species at risk in Canada through the following programs.

Rescue Program:

Rescue injured birds of prey and transport them to veterinary care and or licenced rehabilitation centers when needed, provide temporary housing for wild rehabilitated birds prior to release and to assist in their reintroduction to the wild.

Nest Site Monitoring:

monitor and report activities at each urban and some non- urban Peregrine Falcon and other raptor species at risk nest sites to help provide statistics and annual productivity to government officials and any NGO’s (non-government Organizations) or stakeholders involved in their recovery.

Fledge Watch:

Monitor young fledgling raptor species at risk during their first flights and assist/rescue them from urban hazzards when needed. Report to the Ontario Ministry of Natural resources the total number of eggs laid and hatched at each location, arrange with property owners access to nest for the purpose of banding of the young hatchling birds by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, report to the Ministry all mortalities of fledglings and adult raptor species at risk.

Education:

To promote public awareness and stewardship the foundation has been permitted by the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources to keep and use live captive produced birds of prey and birds unable to return to the wild . The foundation attends public and private elementary and secondary schools, trade shows and public events to deliver environmental and wildlife education programs to all ages in Canada.

Species at risk habitat creation and protection:

The foundation consults with private property owners and management to foster stewardship of existing territorial raptor species at their locations and to build, install and maintain nest boxes and trays and provide nesting materials not otherwise available at the chosen site.

Banding Data:

The Foundation maintains a national database of band information for Peregrine Falcons banded in Canada and the USA and reports on its web site all known and reported activities of banded birds.
