Every three minutes a baby is born with a cleft, a life-threatening condition that impairs their ability to eat, breathe, and speak. All over the world, too many of these children don’t have access to the medical care they need to live and thrive. Smile Train is the world’s largest cleft-focused organization, with a sustainable, local model that provides a full spectrum of free, comprehensive cleft care to our patients. From nutritional support and surgery to speech therapy and oral health care, we have supported 1.5+ million patients since 1999 — more than every other cleft charity combined. Yet the true impact of our model goes far beyond quantitative metrics.
