RSPCA Darwin Regional Branch
RSPCA Darwin Regional Branch Incorporated has been the pre-eminent animal welfare organisation
in the Northern Territory for over 55 years. The organisation is the only shelter in NT affiliated with
RSPCA Australia and the international brand of the same name, though it is independently and locally
run and governed by a skilled volunteer Board.
The organisation is not government funded, and relies almost entirely on donations, fundraising
activities and grants to maintain the high level of care, service and advocacy for around 700 animals
that come into our care each year.
RSPCA Darwin accepts animals that are stray, orphaned, abandoned or have been abused or neglected
and are in need of medical assessment and treatment before they are rehabilitated and made ready
for rehoming. We also provide temporary care for animals that are involved in emergency health or
domestic violence situations, and who would have few alternative care options.
RSPCA Darwin operates at a very high level for the smallest RSPCA Member Society in Australia, thanks
to a team of dedicated staff and highly engaged volunteers. Our mission is to improve animal welfare
in the greater Darwin region through strong advocacy, education and providing animal rehoming
services. RSPCA Darwin continually aims to build community engagement and capability through
offering volunteer programs that cater for a wide range of abilities and experience.
