Plays On Word Theater, a touring Christian missionary and 501(c)(3) nonprofit, exists to illustrate Scripture and illuminate its truth through visual, audio, and tactile theatrical performances. Our mission is to uplift, edify, and ignite audiences—transporting them into historical biblical moments and back again—so they may experience the depth of God’s love and His purpose for His people.

We currently focus on four programs, with additional plays in development:

1.) One-Man Biblical Play: (Genesis) ‘JOE’

From the Pit of Tribulation to a Tower of Triumph — The story of Joseph, a Hebrew shepherd boy living around 1800 years before Christ, who rose to become the most powerful man in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. Through God’s sovereign Hand, Joseph becomes the vessel through which nations are saved. This narrative highlights reconciliation between brothers and restoration between a father and son, showing a rise from hardship to triumph. ‘JOE’ runs about 90 minutes with original music and no intermission. Ideal as a full-length service message or standalone event for churches, schools, lodges, prisons, and communities worldwide.

2.) One-Man Biblical Play: ‘PETE’

An Unlikely Hero Is Born — A dramatic portrayal of Peter, a first-century fisherman transformed by encountering Jesus. From fisherman to fisher of men, Peter becomes a foundational leader in the early church. A story of transformation, repentance, and calling, ‘PETE’ runs about 90 - 120 minutes with original music and no intermission. Perfect for services or events, available to churches, schools, prisons, lodges, and communities across the U.S. and beyond.

3.) One-Man Biblical Play: ‘CHRISTMAS JOE’

Saved the Honor of the One He Loved and Raised the Child Who Would One Day Save Him — Set about 33 years before ‘PETE’, this story centers on Joseph, a first-century carpenter betrothed to Mary. When faced with an astonishing claim of miraculous conception, Joseph chooses trust and obedience after an angelic confirmation. He protects Mary and raises Jesus—the Child who would one day redeem him. ‘CHRISTMAS JOE’ runs 30 minutes and is often paired with a Christmas concert (total 90–120 minutes). Ideal for Christmas services or special events, available for churches, schools, lodges, prisons, and communities across the U.S. and the globe.

An in-depth look at Scripture, the Plays On Word community, and the plays—featuring original music—based on the Word of God. New episodes release Fridays at 7AM EST and are streamed in 71 countries/territories.
