Every week, families with young children come together for a fun music session. And yet, it is SO much more than that. There's 30 minutes of interactive music, followed by morning tea and play for the children, and morning tea and chat for the adults. mainly music sessions provide mothers, fathers and carers with the chance to delight in time spent with their pre-school child. It's about creating memories and moments of togetherness. Families find acceptance. They don't have to 'perform'. They can enjoy time with their children and enjoy time with others who are in the same life stage. Families find care and friendship. Many mothers have said, ‘mainly music was the post-natal depression medication of choice.’ Along with all of this, children are engaging with education, like literacy, numeracy, spatial awareness, colours and more. Let's sum it all up, imagine a time and place, provided by volunteer teams, where young children and their parents will find delight in their shared experiences, be accepted for who they are, and grow educationally. Imagine this contributing to the very important foundation of attachment that contributes to the secure well-being of a child. That’s mainly music.
