We take in stray, surrendered and abandoned dogs and cats from a wide area across Far North Queensland. All the animals get the best of veterinary and general care. All are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed and tick and flea treated before they are rehomed. Our running costs are around $250,000 a year, all of which is dependent on charity alone. We get no government funding. We differ from most of the other rescue groups who do not have a refuge and foster their animals out in many ways. We must employ staff. We have insurance, work cover, electricity and telephone bills. We are audited yearly and provide returns to the ACNC and Office of Fair Trading. Other rescue groups do not have these massive overheads. We are highly accountable and we provide our animals with the best of everything. When rehoming our animals we take a significant loss at each sale, just so that we can rehome as many animals as possible. All this costs us a lot of money and we are struggling. Please help us!
