With over 250+ adoptable rescued guinea pigs at any time, Los Angeles Pet Rescue (dba Los Angeles Guinea Pig Rescue) is the largest guinea pig-specific rescue in the United States. LAGPR's mission is not only to rescue and rehome guinea pigs, but to provide accessible care and veterinary intervention for all guinea pig owners. LAGPR is known for their free health checks for all guinea pigs, as well as hosting a pop-up veterinary clinic twice a month with Dr. Nenneker. Dr. Nennecker provides low-cost diagnostic services such as ultrasounds, x-rays, and cultures. LAGPR runs an educational YouTube channel with over 165K subscribers, and covers topics ranging from basic care such as cage setup and nail clipping to identifying common illnesses, and everything in between. The staff and volunteers at LAGPR are continuously striving to educate our community worldwide on proper guinea pig husbandry. We are at the forefront of medical discoveries of guinea pig-specific issues, and we continue this work as we recognize our reach needs to go farther than just the boundaries of our local communities. A low-cost teaching and research clinic is in the works. We work with some of the most renowned experts in this field, and the sky is the limit according to our relentless director Saskia Chiesa. She has dedicated her life to the animals that are so dearly loved across the USA, but are so misunderstood, and as such, victims of often unintentional neglect.
