Lizzie's Barn Sanctuary
About us
Lizzie’s Barn is a small, completely independent, family-run rescue in South Wales. Being a rural area there are insufficient homes for all of our dogs and so we will home our dogs throughout the UK to fully vetted homes. All of our dogs will have been neutered and we offer advice for as long as is needed.
We don’t re-home hundreds of dogs like many rescues, that is because most of the dogs we take are the harder to home dogs, the forgotten ones, the old, sick, naughty, neglected, elderly and abused. Dogs that are simply less attractive to adopters, many referred on to us by other organisations as problematic in one way or another. So we don’t have a fast re-homing rate and steady cash flow coming in. In fact we rarely cover costs.
These are special dogs’ who need that little bit extra. Some will never be suitable for rehoming because of their past life experiences. They may heve been severely neglected or abused, missed out on vital early learning, have medical or behavioural issues, or just be very elderly. We provide them them with understanding and security, in an enriched kennel free, homelike environment, where they can live their lives in comfort and security, where they are never pushed into situations beyond their individual capabilities
