Letters to Strangers (L2S), the world’s largest youth-for-youth mental health nonprofit, works to destigmatize mental illness and expand access to quality support. We serve over 105,000 youth annually through three pathways: 1) anonymous letter exchanges rooted in art therapy and peer discussions; 2) science-based mental health education, including the world’s first entirely-youth-written and clinically validated guidebook, taught to 100,000+ students worldwide; and 3) grassroots advocacy, from scholarships to youth-run hotlines. We know firsthand that one letter, one human connection, can and has saved a life.
