LAWS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to improving animal welfare in Southern Wyoming and the surrounding areas. Our organization is committed to keeping pets safe, happy and healthy while they wait to be placed in a forever home. We have several programs within our organization:

• FOSTER PROGRAM

  • Animals facing euthanasia due to lack of space can be saved by compassionate individuals who are willing to open their homes and hearts to a shelter pet in need. At LAWS, we provide training to these individuals, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to care for foster animals. Our foster program aims to ensure that these vulnerable animals receive the specialized care and attention they require.

• TRAP, NEUTER, RELEASE

  • LAWS volunteers oversee feral cat colonies on the outskirts of Laramie through a process known as Trap, Neuter, Release (TNR). They compassionately trap these cats to ensure they receive necessary spaying/neutering and vaccinations. The cats are then given an identifying mark before being returned to their colony or finding new homes as working cats. LAWS is committed to the well-being and humane management of these feral cat populations.

• MEDICAL & BEHAVIORAL CARE

  • We assist in medical care for animals at the Laramie Animal Shelter, including dental work, major surgeries, and any other care needed to ensure that the animal is healthy enough for adoption, including routine spay/neuter. We also pay the cost of behavioral training for dogs and puppies who need a little extra education before adoption.  The costs for this are in the ballpark of $146,000/year.
