From 1994 to 2003, Wild Honey produced benefit concerts benefiting, Habitat for Humanity, the Liberty Hill Foundation, USC Norris Cancer Research, and other very worthy causes. The shows included performances by Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Dave Davies of the Kinks, the legendary Alex Chilton, Dave Alvin, Matthew Sweet, Vicki Peterson of the Bangles, and hundreds of amazing musicians. In 2013, Wild Honey, with its founder Paul Rock needing support for his non-verbal son Jacob Rock (9 at the time), reformed to focus on supporting autism research and family support as well as helping members of the arts community in short-term financial distress. The Autism Healthcare Collaborative's Autism Think Tank has been the primary beneficiary since Wild Honey rebooted in 2013. Since 2013, Wild Honey has produced a series of sold-out concerts featuring the likes of Jackson Browne, Garth Hudson of the Band, John Sebastian of the Lovin' Spoonful, Al Jardine of the Beach Boys, and Richie Furay of the Buffalo Springfield, Lenny Kaye of the Patti Smith Band. IN 2023., Wild Honey also produced "Unforgettable Sunrise", a 70 minute symphony co-written by Jacob Rock and Rob Laufer (Wild Honey's musical director) to global acclaim, including a huge feature the Los Angeles Times and an 8 minute segment on CBS News, Sunday Morning. A NPR segment on Sunrise reached 15 million views on social media. In December of 2024, "Page Turner," Sunrise's second movement was performed as a dance at The Juilliard School at Lincoln Center with choreography by the acclaimed Jennifer Freeman.
Going forward, Wild Honey seeks donations to expand our work with the non-verbal autism community and its untapped wellspring of creativity by creating a small performance venue and a living community for autism families. This project will bring work opportunities for the autism community as well as a place for artistic expression that will bring global awareness to this overlooked population.
