Kangala Kangaroo and wildlife rescue
Kangala Wildlife Rescue is an Australian registered charity that was born out of the devastating 2020 bushfires on Kangaroo Island which burnt over half of our beautiful island. During the fires we rescued approximately 150 koalas, as well as many kangaroos, native birds & other wildlife.
We provide a 24-7 emergency rescue response for all wildlife on Kangaroo Island including veterinary care and rehabilitation for animals from ICU dependant young to adults. Kangala is also a wildlife sanctuary and provides a forever home to wildlife not fit for release. We have purpose built enclosures and large areas of bushland used as release sites for native animals.
Kangala provides training, equipment and feed supplies to volunteer wildlife carers and is registered and permitted with National Parks.
There is no government funding provided and we rely entirely on peoples kindness & donations to be able to offer this essential service to our precious wildlife and community members.
By helping us you will be helping our wildlife receive the best care possible and ensure that we are there to help the animals and community in the event of fires, floods, road accidents and all manner of emergencies as well as allowing us to train volunteer carers and provide education to the community to further environmental causes.
