HAPPA investigate cruelty and neglect of horses, ponies and donkeys across 18 counties in the north of England. HAPPA's Equine Inspectors offer advice, support and guidance to members of the public, including equine owners, to ensure better welfare standards for equines.
Where possible our Inspectors offer guidance and assistance. However, we will take action, via prosecution, or on occasion offer the ability to sign legal ownership to the care of HAPPA, where we find cases of cruelty and neglect.
Rescued equines are taken into HAPPA’s care at Shores Hey Farm, based in Burnley, Lancashire, where they will receive initial treatment followed by a bespoke care and rehabilitation package.
After this period, once integrated into the main herd, a rescued equine begins their Journey to be matched with a Forever Home through the Charity’s Loan Scheme, the Charity never relinquishes ownership
All HAPPA horses, ponies or donkeys of any age are given a Second Chance of finding their Forever Home.
HAPPA have continued to operate throughout the Pandemic, investigating and rescuing equines and offering a Second Chance; providing the very best of care to all horses and ponies at the Charity’s Centre.
With your support we can continue to do this!
