What is obstetric fistula? → Obstetric fistula occurs when a woman undergoes prolonged, obstructed labor without access to emergency care. It leaves her incontinent, ashamed, and—all too often—outcast from her family and her community. The only cure for fistula is surgery, and expert repair surgery has a high success rate. At least one million women suffer from this condition today.

What does Fistula Foundation do? → Our mission is to end the needless suffering of women who experience obstetric fistula and other childbirth injuries. We partner with local hospitals in across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia to provide free repair surgeries to women who otherwise could not afford this life-transforming care.
