Farmworker & Landscaper Advocacy Project
About us
The Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving working conditions and expanding opportunities for low-wage immigrant workers and their families in Illinois. FLAP provides free legal services, community education, and advocacy to workers in the farming, landscaping, greenhouse, cannery, packinghouse, meat, poultry, restaurant, and snow removal industries—regardless of immigration status. Through culturally competent outreach and strategic partnerships with consulates, community organizations, and legal experts, FLAP ensures that workers know their rights and have access to the tools they need to protect them.
What sets FLAP apart is its community-rooted model: workers help shape programs and lead outreach efforts, creating long-term impact. In a climate where immigrant workers are often exploited, underpaid, and excluded from federal aid, FLAP fills a critical gap by promoting dignity, fair wages, and legal protections. With over two decades of trusted service, FLAP reaches more than 600 individuals daily through education sessions, Know Your Rights workshops, and direct services.
Support for FLAP means standing with those who harvest our food, build our cities, and maintain our communities—yet often remain unseen and unheard. Together, we can ensure these essential workers are empowered, protected, and treated with the respect they deserve.
