Coeliac New Zealand Inc's (CNZ) vision is People with coeliac disease live healthy lives every day. The work CNZ does is not just about the first or second year after diagnosis, it is about supporting people with CD throughout their journey for life. Living with coeliac disease or gluten intolerance can be hard. Early diagnosis is essential. A strict healthy gluten free diet is the only treatment, and this requires a long-term follow-up plan to maintain excellent health and to prevent complications from occurring. Although a gluten-free diet is effective, maintaining it has recognised challenges, particularly from a social perspective. Managing your coeliac disease and your mental health go together. Our mission is that we are a relevant accessible organisation, that raises awareness, provides support, information and resources to people who must follow a gluten free diet, their whanau and the wider community. • The work we do encourages and enables participation by more people with coeliac disease in whanau, school, work and community activities. This reduces isolation and a feeling of exclusion. • It develops the capability of communities to cater to diverse needs to allow for inclusion• It improves health outcomes and therefore reduces the economic costs to communities and government.

 CNZ supports research, education, and initiatives for those working in the health sector to aid diagnosis and treatment of coeliac disease. Coeliac NZ helps educate individuals with the condition, schools, residential care facilities, hospitality, and the general public about coeliac disease so people who have the disease can participate more and be included which is essential not only for their physical wellbeing but also for their mental wellbeing.
