The stray cat population in Manitoba is at crisis proportions. In every town and city thousands of these homeless, abandoned, lost cats struggle to survive by scrounging food and finding shelter where ever they can. They don't deserve the reality of this existence. They didn't ask for it. Most of these cats were left intact by irresponsible people so there are thousands of kittens born every year most of which don't survive. They die from starvation, predators, freeze in the winter and get run over on the roads. The ones that do survive can start breeding at 4 months and keep adding to the problem. Part of our mission is to rescue as many tame and friendly cats as money and foster homes permit. They are vetted, vaccinated fixed and adopted to appropriate homes. The real focus is called TNR. The unfriendly or scared or feral strays are trapped fixed vaccinated dewormed and returned where possible to their territory where we feed and maintain the colonies. If not possible we try to find alternate places to home them . On farms as working rodent control. TNR is the only humane method of trying to bring the stray population under control. This work exacts a great deal of money for veterinary expenses, ongoing food expenses, gas for travel to name a few. We work constantly raising funds to do this work but its never enough. Donations are always desperately needed in our efforts to help these poor animals.
