Clarksdale Animal Rescue Effort & Shelter (CARES) is a nonprofit, no-kill animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abandoned, neglected, and abused animals in Clarksdale and Coahoma County, Mississippi. Our mission is to provide every animal with a safe environment, compassionate care, necessary medical treatment, and a second chance at finding a loving forever home.

In addition to rescuing and rehoming dogs and cats, CARES provides veterinary care, vaccinations, spay and neuter assistance through our veterinary partnerships, foster opportunities, and community pet food assistance. We work tirelessly to reduce animal overpopulation, promote responsible pet ownership, and keep animals safe and healthy.

As a nonprofit serving a rural community with limited resources, we rely heavily on donations, grants, volunteers, and community support to continue our lifesaving work. Every contribution helps us provide food, shelter, medical treatment, and hope to animals who need us most.

At CARES, we believe every animal deserves love, compassion, and a chance at a better life.
