About us
This Is My Brave Australia Inc. (TIMBA) is a not-for-profit mental health charity founded in 2016 in Canberra, Australia by mental health advocate Tim Daly, and formally registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) in 2017.
The organisation exists to reduce stigma around mental illness and encourage help-seeking by empowering individuals to share their lived experience through storytelling. Its core philosophy is that open, honest conversations about mental health can foster connection, understanding and recovery, helping to create a society free from prejudice and discrimination.
TIMBA delivers this mission through a range of community-based initiatives across Australia, including live storytelling events, mental health film festivals, social media storytelling platforms, and education programs such as Mental Health First Aid training. These activities provide safe, creative spaces for people to share personal stories and engage audiences in meaningful dialogue about mental health.
As a 100% volunteer-run organisation, TIMBA has developed significant experience in grassroots community engagement, event production, and peer-led mental health advocacy. It is part of a broader international movement originating in the United States, adapting a proven storytelling model to Australian communities, including regional and rural areas.
Through its programs, TIMBA has built a strong track record of amplifying lived experience voices, strengthening community connection, and contributing to national efforts to normalise conversations about mental health.
Pam’s Pantry provides free, accessible essential daily support to individuals and families across Ngunnawal and the wider Canberra community who are experiencing tough times. Led by Pam, the pantry distributes toys for children and other basic staple needs for families with a strong focus on dignity, kindness and zero judgement. Through consistent weekly openings and active community engagement, Pam’s Pantry has become a trusted local lifeline, ensuring that people facing financial pressure can access practical support close to home.
The aim of the Jane Grace Foundation (in memory of TIMBA stalwart and Red Flag mental health advocate Jane Grace) is to advance mental health advocacy, provide compassionate support to people experiencing homelessness and hardship, and promote justice for all—particularly those whose voices are too often unheard.
