Did you know there are CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS EIGHT years old that have to care for their sick or disabled mum, dad brother or sister? Who Cares for these young children? The reality right now is that there are 270,000 Young Carers in Australia under 24 and many people have no idea they exist; • 50% living in circumstances of disadvantage • 60% unemployed • 40% don’t finish high-school • 2 out of 3 have a mental-illness such as major anxiety, isolation issues, and severe depression, leading to suicide • Research has proven that Young-carers are amongst the most marginalised groups in the Australian community due to their caring responsibilities • Moments of happiness &possibility are few and far between for these young people The Carers Foundation provides a safe healing haven for these young people to access so they can restore their own health and wellbeing and connect with others in similar situations. Our support helps reduce the extreme stress, anxiety, exhaustion, social isolation, suicidality and often physical injuries they experience because of their caring role. Your support will be lifechanging and bring joy and happiness to these amazingly selfless young people, who give up their life to care for their loved one.
