Street Works is a project of Kindness Works Ltd, that supports people experiencing homelessness in Hervey Bay, Qld, Australia. 

Since 2020 we have run a Tuesday morning breakfast in the park at Torquay, Hervey Bay and since 2022 we have opened a day respite facility where people who are doing life tough can come for a bite to eat, a shower, a rest, friendship, referral and a tent, tarp, mat, blanket and pillow.

We have also run Christmas Day in the park since 2021.  

We are 100% volunteer run, and all our core volunteers receive training in asset based community development, to walk alongside people creating a strengths based supportive community.

In 2024 we joined as a partner in WideBay Zero, a collaboration of services in the Wide Bay and with the Australian Alliance to End Homelessness, IFYS, Country to Coast Qld with support from Micah Projects.  This alliance seeks to identify everyone who is experiencing homelessness and provide a coordinated effort to raise awareness of homelessness in all its forms, educate the community on root causes and provide a coordinated approach to managing resources and endeavour to see a significant reduction in those falling through the cracks. 

So we are both addressing homelessness at the very coal face and actively involved in the Wide Bay Zero project to advocate with real on-ground data, for an end to homelessness in Australia.
