Staffie and Stray Rescue specialise in the rescue and rehoming of the often misunderstood breed, the Staffordshire bull terrier. In particular, the rescue take in more difficult dogs who are likely to be harder to rehome. Many dogs are saved from the pound and others have been surrendered but have often come from poor backgrounds and have been poorly socialised.
The rescue is predominantly foster based with the use of emergency boarding kennels for dogs in urgent need and for pound dogs to be assessed or rehabilitated where needed.
The rescue provides all costs associated with the dog prior to rehoming, including neutering, vaccinations, flea and worming treatment. The majority of rescue workers help out on a voluntary basis and all funds are raised via fundraising and with help from generous donations from the public.
The team at SSR pride themselves on finding only the best homes for the dogs and carry out a careful vetting process prior to rehoming. The rescue always provides ongoing support where needed.
