SHS is one of the smallest shelters in the state of Maine, and we currently serve 32 towns and 82 unorganized townships and our average intake is over 800 pets each year. These funds will be used to provide much needed medical care for many pets. We spay and neuter for the health and wellbeing of the animal, as well as population control. We do our best to keep adoption fees low, however this means that we do not recover the cost of altering these animals as well as providing medical care to all who need it. Our medical costs alone are over $50,000 each year. Your support in this unique way helps SHS save the lives of many lost, homeless and abandoned animals that come into our care, giving them a second chance at life and love.
